Butterfly Cushion, 4 March, 2017
I found this beautiful butterfly print and instantly knew I wanted to make cushion covers.  I also dyed some calico to become the back and opening of the cover.

A fun and easy activity it'll make ideal gift.
TIE DYE, 6 February 2017

-Rubber Gloves , Rubberbands, Cotton Fabric

HATCHING MONARCH, 26 Dec 2016
Giving a helping hand after finding the chrysalli on the ground I gave this some help drying out it's wings and releasing.
TOTE BAG
This easy to make Tote bag that can be made with or without lining.  The longer handles are my preference for easy holding and handling.

MATERIALS:
- Heavy Calico
- Coordinating Cotton Thread
- Printed Cotton for Lining (Optional)

If you wash the bag it will shrink slightly so wash the Calico before cutting it.  To add some decorative images to the bag I will be using iron on transfer paper.  Have fun and be creative this is a great beginners video that I followed.

PAPER MARBLING

A fun and relaxing form of creativity is paper marbling I remember trying this way back in my primary school days and  how much fun it was.  There's no right or wrong way to create your desired patterns Turkish 'Ebru' and Japanese 'Suminigashi' have practised this art for many many years.  Watching YouTube there are many helpful videos for beginners to learn from the uses are really creative.

MONARCH BUTTERFLIES

I simply love photographing and raising Monarchs providing them with Swan plants to lay their eggs, feed the caterpillars and watching them transform from caterpillar to chrysallis and finally the beautiful orange, black and white butterflies.  They are raised and hatch in a net tower then released out into the garden.

  1. New Zealand Maori culture is unique, Te Whanau a Apanui Iwi (Tribe) founded by my ancestor Apanui Ringamutu.  Situated around the Eastern Bay of Plenty on the East Cape.  The 13 Apanui Hapu (Sub Tribes) territory extends from Torere and Hawai all the way along the coast line to Potaka.

Te Whanau a Kauaetangohia is my Hapu, situated in Whangaparaoa, Cape Runaway my Turangawaewae. (noun) domicile, standing, place where one has the right to stand - place where one has rights of residence and belonging through kinship and whakapapa.

    The beautiful scenery, historic
    landmarks and cultural performing

    so unique.  Whangaparaoa is where

    REMEMBRANCE

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.

    Lest we forget
  6. I like to collect old family photographs and repair if needed.  Here are some of my family photo's that I've collected through family members and searched online from museum archives.
